My son has been able to say car since he was about 13months old. I assumed that other words would start coming in short sucession. Since then- he is now 18 months - he has said car a million times and NO other new words at all. I am constantly reading to him and going through books and looking at words with him and saying them to him. I provide a commentary for things that he is doing at times but I try hard not to be too pushy about it. The trouble is it's really frustrating. When I say Harry would you like some juice or some milk he just grins and laughs and points at the juice, or gives some other indication if I don't show the juice, but there is no attempt to say anything! I'm sure he will talk eventually and I'm not worried as such just finding it a bit frustrating. Is there anything else I can do to encourage him without being too pushy?  

Has he got any older siblings? My 2nd was the same and discovered that my eldest did the chatting for him! xx
